Hi
My DH Has just had a letter today re the CSA, the last time they got in touch was circa 9 years ago but at the time he was on job seekers and due to this didn't have to pay anything. this time however he has a decent job. We are fine paying going forward but what about arrears - will they ask for them ? if so will it be for the level of wages he has at the moment? in 2006 he had a business that wasn't making any money so he shouldn't have paid anything for this will this be taken into account?
Help I am no really scared that we will be asked to find alot of money very quickly that we do not have!
and we currently have a 3 year old to feed!

Only two big facts are known for certain: you are on a large, spinning rock hurtling through lonely space at about 67,000 mph, and one day your body is going to die. Will a new pair of shoes really help?

Two things here he can request his Tax years from the HMCE which will show how much was earnt in any given tax year, however the self employed bit they may throw a wobbly on and not take this into condieration. We all know what they are SUPPOSED to do but what they do are 2 different things, and if the ex is/was on benefit they willchase until defeated ( or so they think)
If they try to assess him as income level now to back date it you will have to appeal, in writing, and copy proof as per above. Out of interest, when he began employment why didn't he inform them?

Hi he has't seen his ex or the kids for over 9 years- it wasn't a good split and he did try and keep in contact but thats another story.
We didn't tell the CSA as we had't heard anything from them for years and TBH hoped they had forgotten about us!Only two big facts are known for certain: you are on a large, spinning rock hurtling through lonely space at about 67,000 mph, and one day your body is going to die. They set the effective date of the new assessment when they ask you to provide information.
The can not backdate that, so if they recently asked you to provide info then it will only be backdated to when you got their letter (or there abouts).
They should not be interested in 2006, unless they asked you back then to provide info and you didn't.0 -

If he had a nil assessment and they only recently asked for updated info then the new assessment will be from now and the nil assessment will remain until the new assessment, so no huge arrears.0
