Natwest & Mercers reply... not sure what to do now?!

Hi everyone

I sent £25 cheques to Mercers (barclaycard) and NatWest. The NatWest one (within 2 days of them cashing the cheque) changed to Triton credit services.

Triton have rang my parents home number (we are living with them at home but do not use the phone and have repeatedly asked them to take the number from their system.

Triton have sent a letter saying that they are going to instruct an agent to come and collect payment. They can't as I literally don't have any money but my parents aren't aware of this situation and it is staying that way as my parents are equally stressed (father is u/e too).

Mercers have sent a letter saying that the £25 is unacceptable and that I can make a claim on the insurance I took out with them but as my job was temporary they will not be able to help me.

What do I do?? Do I just ignore the letters and keep sending the £25 a month until I can afford more?

Help!!!

thanks :) I'm going to send letters off to both today but need something to send them!

    Hi

try a claim on that PPI and if it does not pay out, reclaim the entire sum you have paid for the PPI plus any commision that they recieved for the job.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • Okay, I will do that now. Thanks :)
I'm staying positive thanks to a bar of aero next to the sofa!

  • just wondering if anyone else has suggestions on what I can do? Read the T&C's on the PPI, I don't think I can claim on the insurance or reclaim it.

    Hi

if you cannot claim on the PPI, it was almost certainly mis-sold and you can reclaim it.

  • how do I find out if it was mis-sold?

    Start by reading here http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/

And if you bought it to cover you in the case of unemployment and you cannot claim, by defination you were mis-sold.

and unless you were told you ccould get insurance elsewhere, if you wanted and it might be cheaper, it was mis-sold.

The OFT is banning the sale of PPI with accounts because they are generally mis-sold

  • also send them a letter asking / Telling them to remove your phone number from there records.

Give them a alternative number like a mobile...

    And sent it recorded delivery

  • They have my mobile number but don't use it. They use my parents house number because they pick it up. They don't know how much I owe them (around £600) but my mum is completely unforgiving and apologises to the guy on the phone for me being a waste of time! I refuse to speak to them and then there's an argument. I can deal with it all but when it starts to involve my family then its too far. They told my mum that it will affect her credit rating because the address is here, is that true or are they saying that incase she gets freaked out and gives me the money?

As silly as it sounds I cannot afford to send them recorded delivery. Its pathetic I know but I literally have £1.50 in my purse and I need to buy milk :(

I have sent Natwest 4 or 5 letters in the last couple of months, all asking them to remove the number from their system but they are ignoring it. Am I not saying it right!?

    thanks

Lying barstewards. They think they can force your mother into paying for you.

You need to write a formal letter of complaint to their CEO and involve the OR.

    Been there.

What you do need to do is to get together enough for a regsitered letter and use the proper letter off here (will post after lunch) and send that to MERCERS and then you can report them for using the land-line.

In the mean-time tell mum that she must tell them she is recording all calls. If possible do it, if not pretend to do it and they will ring off promptly.

  • I will ask OH when he rings me at lunchtime (I trained him well hehe) and ask him if he has any money, he's working full time atm and basically paying for me. Being a kept woman isn't as much fun as I thought :( Just feel really guilty.

I will talk to my mum about it, she thinks she's really good with money but has been living off her credit card since my father lost his job. Told her to come on here but she refuses!

Okay, thank you so so much for helping!! When I post something I always think "I hope RAS replies!!" although really thankful to get anything from anyone, but you seem to know the right answer all the time!!

    thanks again
