Interesting programme. I guess researchers need the more extreme cases to make interesting TV. I kinda got the impression the guy (compared to the missus) was not that blown away by the savings (guess it's all relative to some), maybe if it was put as - well thats £4k (every year) for your kids college fund or whatever. Bit like the demotivator.

What would have been nice though was if they actually told you what the budget moisturiser was especially as one of the testers thought it was the premium brand.
Shezza, I'd like to know too. It was a tube (Martin handed the woman a wrapped box), priced at £2.81. Searched Boots to see if I can find anything close to that price. Aldi stuff (I think) comes in tubs. I wondered if it was a Nivea product, or Lidl?

Simple comes in a box about that size, and it's about that price too.

Funny though, I thought it might have been the Aldi cream that was in the papers a few months back, but that's in a different shaped box (more cube shaped).

    It's only a game

If you have a local green grocers they are usually cheaper and better quality. For example at mine the bananas are £1 for 10, the quality is better than the supermarkets and for that they tend to last longer. I save a lot of money when I go there and not the supermarket for my fruit, salad and vegetables. That’s the only way I can think of beating even the basic prices but only for fruit, salad and vegetables. My partner says the local butchers works out cheaper for meat even at the basic prices for most stuff and it isn’t as fatty either. He really dislikes fatty meat of low quality.

Really the only way we are likely to beat the supermarket prices would be the local stores. I’m all for that :rotfl: .

His wife did mention that he was a very private man. He reminded me of a friend of my parents who would react like in that, in public, regardless of whether you'd told him he'd won a million or his granny had died...
