There may be something on there that is preventing you getting a card. I did this earlier and found that the reason I was being turned dow was that I had £30k worth of available credit on old cards that I had switched and not closed properly.

Spent a couple of days writing to close accounts. You then have to wait a few months to let it all go through. Hopefully then you'll be able to transfer a
    balance to a 0% deal

Thanks for drawing this to my attention!

I might be being a bit dim here, but how do you close a credit card account? I'm certainly aware of 2 cards I've long since destroyed and not heard from, but could they still have my account open? What do you say to them?!

When you get your credit report, it gives you all the addresses to write to. You can ring experian for the old accountnumbers and then you have the basis for your letter. Have closed 4 and am still awaiting 2 to reply. Keep a record of your letters and replies and tick them off as you go. You will need to make sure that they respond to your letters.

    Good Luck!
