Hi! Thanks to southernscourser , I'm writing my first thread! I was just reading about fellow 'debtees'. Glad that I'm not alone but not glad that we're all in this quagmire!

Lots of debt to my name! Thank goodness my hubby is understanding but it means getting a £10 K loan, finishing in 2012 !!! Oh my god! My son will be 10 then!! Not a life to live eh! I personally have 2 loans he doesn 't know about.... one finishing this Sept, and one in 2009 !! Oh my god yet again! I hate this life. debt ! debt! debt! I wish I could win the lottery! I'd pay off all your debts as well! But I don't really buy the lottery as I can't really afford it! I faced the ugly truth of my debt problem twice and I hadn't learnt after the first time! Hopefully I will now!

Owe mom £5000 (0%....)
NR loan at £184 pm (since 2003), debt cleared 09/06
AL loan at £216 pm (since 2005), debt cleared 06/09 :eek:
NR with hubby at £165 pm (2006), debt cleared 03/12 :eek:


Will we ever get there??

:hello: Hi there welcome to MSE I know how you feel with the consolidation thing take a look at my siggy thats what my A&L loan was....but didnt cut up the cards :doh: That was however pre MSE now I'm a reformed character..a first time saver :eek: and believe it or not reasonably stress free as I am now in control for the first time Look forward to reading more of your story

Have you signed up for the 10k loan with Northern Rock yet? Is this consolidating debts aside the other two loans? If so, and you haven't yet signed on the dotted line, I would say don't do anything until you've posted everything here because you might be able to snowball your debts and become debt free sooner.

I've nearly signed on the dotted line for this type of loan a couple of times and then got cold feet thinking, exactly as you are, of how old my kids would be when when we had finally paid it off. As it is, my debt free date is 3.5 years away and I aim to pay if off sooner as we still have the flexibility to throw any spare money we can at the debts e.g. bonuses.
