I am going to put my name on stuff now and again as I am building up to change my user name.....and someone referred to Father Christmas as FC recently.....or there was the Pickled Pink version.:o
Or Fokking C something....it's not a good set of initials....so any bright ideas for a sparkly new user name much appreciated.0 -

With regards to template letters for that sort of thing National Debtline website is great, they have all sorts of different ones so may be worth a try.
Good luck, hope your Mum gets sorted.DMP Support Thread Member 238

Hi all, been visiting this site for a few months and have learnt so much about money saving and paying back our debt which Im getting pretty good at, thank you all

Because of all of you my thoughts turned to my mum, she is just about to turn 60 years old and owes 14k to Capital 1 credit card. They just kept upping the limit from 4k 5 years ago to the current 14k. This is a clear case of irrespinsible lending, my poor mum has taken on extra weekend shifts cleaning in a nursing home to pay the £280 monthly replayments, which isnt much really but its obvious this is never going to get paid
What can I do about this? can I get the interest frozen? can I get it partially written off? her husband does work earning 15k per annum she is earning prob £7k per annum and they still have a mortgage. No other debt but this credit card.
Would appreciate your thoughts, help and guidance on this one everyone. Many thanks
See if there is anyway of reducing the mortgage in the short term, perhaps to an interest only basis or even by increasing the mortgage term. Then some inroads could be made into the credit card balance by increasing the repayments. As I guess at the moment only the minimum is being repaid every month on the card. No doubt Capital 1 are charging a high rate of interest.0 -

yes, clearly, some would say people like my 60 year old mum are to blame for this 'mess'.0 -

Im going to look into all avenues suggested, thank you those who had something positive to say
