I wanna decent sofa bed

Hi, just decking out a room and fancy getting a decent sofa bed (double) to go in there for occasional use. Has anyone got any recommendations, thanks

Hi, think Ikea are quite good at things like this. Before you trek to your local one, perhaps take a look at any local independent furniture shops.

  • we got ours from argos in 2004, it has been used as alot as a sofa and occasionally as a sofa bed for more than 1 nights stay. it is still fine and my husband sits on it every day as it is our other sofa in the sitting room.

I got mine from Ikea too, but paid a bit more for the better mattress.
It did fit in the back of my estate car too.

  • I went for Ikea too.

A salesman from an expensive sofa shop told me to be careful when buying sofabeds. Some of them have an annoying piece of wood (the sofa frame) sticking through the bed so they're just no good, for regular use at least - depends if you want your gets to sleep well or not I guess!

The better ones, in his opinion, were the one's that have some sort of frame that lift you off the floor. They're a little more expensive - but he did tell us this after we'd told him all of his sofas were out of our price range. I can see his logic - I don't have a plank of wood to rest my head on!

http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/S69824957 <--- this was Ikea's cheapest - but looked a little like a park bench in the store (and the screws were loose!) but it was the only one that they didn't have with expensive covers on! I'm sure it looks fine when it's made.

We got this frame in the end and mixed and matched the appropriate covers and mattresses. http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/10031628 was about £170 in the end.... but that's for cheap covers etc that'll do me as a student!

I got on off here - don't ask me to spell that word again :rotfl:
But it's really good. I have the stripey cover but I've made a pretend leather cover for it too as it's in the conservatory.
