You will be able to keep up to £20 a week, of any child maintenance paid before it affects the amount of benefit you may receive.
If you’re getting more than £20 a week, you continue to receive any maintenance payments and your benefits will be adjusted accordingly.
This info can bee found at:

In the future it is set to change so that you get to keep all of it plus your income support.

"Now, from 27 October 2008, the Child Support Agency pays all child maintenance received directly to parents with care.
It will be your responsibility to inform Jobcentre Plus of the amount of maintenance you receive.

I pasted this from the same link. CSA money would be paid directly to you, your Income support would be adjusted. I'm unsure how much I.S is £55-60?
If he doesn't pay then I guess you would need to tells the benefits office and they would make up the shortfall, he would then owe them the money.

or you could take £20 per week and close CSA if he can be relied upon.

Not if you're on benefits you can't!! CSA involvement is compulsory in that situation, so that they can grab the cash for the government.

That changed in October. Even if a pwc is on benefit she can close the csa case

If you get a part time job with the New Deal then you will get to keep ALL child maintenance when you start getting WTC/CTC. Also the child maintenance will not be assessed in your housing or tax benefit.
