we had a loan from tesco last july but we are not allowed to overpay on it. since we decided to go onto a repayment mortgage we have been able to cash the endowment in, but it still left us £3000 short of the loan balance. I have been saving all silver and copper and £2 coins. Any money we had left on the friday night was put into the pot aswell and any other savings we could make and we would start fresh on the saturday morning. It has been really hard not spending it at times but through this forum I have done it. I have not bought any new clothes in a long while so in a few weeks I will treat myself with money I am going to carry on putting away. The loan was supposed to be for 5 years. I know some people will think we have taken a short cut cashing in the endowment but it still feels good to me.

Congratulations!! It is a lovely feeling when you clear the last of a debt, now go and have a little celebration and enjoy yourself.
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)
