Avon - do they do credit checks?

I've just had an avon manager at my door (she was looking for previous tenant to see if she wanted to sell avon again). She asked me if I was interested. I said I wasn't but she gave me her card so I could think about it. I was thinking I may go for it but does anyone know if they do credit checks? My credit rating isn't too bad but I'm not sure if it will affect this.
Any advice???

yes they do, I did avon for a couple of weeks cause a friend of a friend was a sales leader and needed one more person to recruit to hit her sales target :rolleyes:0

How likely is it to be accepted to sell?
I know of a friend who couldn't do it altho' her rating is MUCH worse than mine.

Hi, I signed up to do an avon round yesterday. Apparently you can be a rep without a credit check, they do a credit check if you step up a level and become a sales leader.0

Hi Ohdear - hope you do wll with it!
I used to sell Avon stuff years ago (god that makes me sound old!!) and remember now when I got an experian report when I moved into my first flat it was mentioned on there (BTW it was a good report)
i was just wondering on the likelyhood of being accepted if you have some bad credit (albeit it a couple years ago)

Hi
Yes they do credit checks on all reps and you sign an agreement. They are looking for CCJ's, name is on electrall roll and defaults. My mate is an area manager and because they are giving you stock before payment-it is a form of credit and they need to make sure that your not going to take the goods and not pay.
Good luck.

I emailed my are amanager earlier and her reply is
'You can be a rep without a credit check.
They only credit check sales leaders, and if that is your only thing, they
might be OK with that.' Only thing, meaning one default 3 years ago.
I hope she isn't fibbing, bad way to get off isn't it!
I will wait and see, and if they do do a credit check i will leave Avon straight away as the trust will have gone.0 -
Thanks to all posts and advice.
I'm still thinking about doing it. I should get through any credit check and the area she mentioned is only about 2 streets worth. (not sure if it will be worth any hassle tho' - for only 2 streets) BTW I live in one of the streets.
I know that you can make money from this and it should be different from when I was 16 - ie working out commision due and spending up to that amount on goods:rotfl:

Hi,
I'm an Avon sales manager & all reps get credit checks
As Penny Pincher mentioned, they are looking for major problems such as CCJs,credit card defaults etc
The only people who make big money on Avon are the ones that make it more or less a full time career
I do one big road with about 40 customers then about 15 family & friends & i'm lucky to make a tenner a week
The only reason i carry on is that it fits in with my other commitments & doesn't put me above the £20 a week earnings allowance that would affect my Income Support

I do Kleeneze and they do credit check to see if they would offer distributors a credit account. Saying that though not many distributors use the Kleeneze credit facilty as it is better to use a Tesco credit card to get the extra points for days out, etc...you pay it off just the same as if you had company credit.
I have to say I am surprised that you only earn £10 a week on the Avon!! I have been doing Kleeneze for 5 months now (seriously since January) and earn over £600 per month part time!! I suppose it is just a different system.
I would advise anyone looking at something like this to look on the DSA website where there are details of all the Direct selling companies. It's each to their own...I looked at that site when I was looking to work from home and preferred Kleeneze, some may be better suited to Avon, it depends on what you are looking for I suppose.
