Just wondering if anyone could help me?
I dont know how to organise the day.
I haven't been to many wedding either.
Basically i dont want to have any sit down dinners or anything, its will be very informal.
The ceremony is at 3:30pm.
How long do they usually take? And how can the day follow from that?
We are having a buffet i know that :rotfl:
Most guides i've read follow the idea of a wedding breakfast, meals, ect.
Can anyone help?

We have decided to have a very informal wedding.
Getting married at 4pm in the local church which should take around 40minutes, then a few photos and busing everyone off to a country pub for a pig roast and live music from 7pm.
We are trying to keep it really informal and relaxed so have saved alot of money on some things but spent more on the bits we really want.0 -
Hi there
We arent having a sit down meal either. Getting married at 4pm.. followed by some photos at the church
Then having the evening reception with big buffet, plenty of alcohol and a good disco from 6pm
The worst thing we found with the weddings we have attended is the hanging around. Once the ceremony is finished, it can sometimes be a long wait and people can get bored. We decided to go dtraight from one to the other... and saved ourself loads of money by cutting out the meal!!Getting Married Sat Aug 22nd 2009...... so excited!!
June Brings: 3 x Radiohead Albums, pair of crystal & Pearl Wedding Earrings ( My first wedding win!), Juice, Mad Money DVD
Thanks to all posters :beer:0 -
So do you think this would be ok..
3:30pm Ceremony
4:20pm (ish) Photos How long do photo's take?
6pm Reception and Music
7:30pm Buffet
Thought between pics and reception guests could go home and change into party wear if needed? Quite a few young kids going to, so they might need to change them...?

3:30pm Ceremony (Have you been informed roughly how long the ceremony will be, it can differ greatly depending on if it's religious, non religious, if there are readings etc)
4:20pm (ish) Photos How long do photo's take? (depends on how many people you have attending and if you want formal photos - if it's a big group, it can take a while rounding everybody up. I'd say up to an hour, any longer than that and people will get really fed up)
6pm Reception and Music
7:30pm Buffet

How far is the ceremony venue to the reception venue? I'm not too sure anybody would want to get changed, most people should arrive quite dressed up anyway (if not, kick em out :rotfl:) The evening bit seems okay
 Think happy & you'll be happy
I :heart2: my doggies

Hello. Congratulations. You can try Sara at www.momentsplanners.com
She can provide you with a wedding pack to help plan your day.
The wedding breakfast ideas are mainly used on big occasions but that doesn't mean your wedding day cannot start at breakfast. After you get married you can make your way to an evening reception if you have one planned.

Your day sounds fine to me.
I doubt people will want to get changed after the ceremony. Id just make sure the bar is open and music is playing at the reception from about 5pm, that way people will arrive and start to mingle even if the photo's take longer.0 -
Thank you Hayley11

No the church didn't inform me of how long it would take. Maybe i should call them haha. I was thinking about asking my little sister to do a reading, she will be 10 (aww ^^)
The photo's an hour maximum right?
So that would take it to about 5:30pm (ish) and it takes roughly about 15 mins to walk roughly between the church and the reception, most of the family drive so that should be ok
I was thinking of having a glass of champagne ready for each guest when they arrive. Something not to expensive though...

You are not allowed to advertise your business here - it clearly states in the forum rules not to post links for personal gain - you have put a link to your own business in the signature part of your posting. The wedding pack advertised by this company is £29.99 plus VAT and yet the same thing can be picked up elsewhere on the internet from a more reputable company for free.0 -

Your timings are fine Evansangel.
With regard to champers, serve up a nice sparkling wine instead or bucks fizz which you can make with orange juice or what is a rather nice alternative passion fruit juice. This will be cheaper and just as nice. As for those that don't drink why not serve a sparkling elderflower fizz - which tastes divine (I think it actually tastes nicer than champagne and isnt so dry on the palate).0
