RP 7 out of 10 cars purchased in the UK are imported anyway. All the manufacturers based here are foreign, they are not here out of the kindness of their hearts, but because it is commercially worth their while to do so. German and French Govts supporting auto companies that are domicile in those countries, is very different from supporting a company over which you have little or no control. We did it before in the early 70's by giving Chrysler money, what did they do? Spent some of it in France and then pulled out of the Uk altogether
