Hi all have googled this and come up with conflicting answers so thought I'd ask you guys.
I've just made fairy cakes for red nose day they have buttercream icing on. Do I need to keep these in the fridge or are they better off just kept in airtight containers? I'm worried the icing might go too hard/crusty/shiny in fridge but then again will it go melty if left out?

Yes, airtight container for me too. I've never put cakes in the fridge as I think it makes them go hard and taste stale more quickly.

If its buttercream with butter and not marge it will go like rock in the fridge.
I only fridge cakes with cream cheese in the icing - but then those dont stick about long enough, anyway
