Subway always con you on cheese, they say "do you want double cheese?" without telling you the COST, then scam you when you pay at the till.

Yeah but when I got offered this it only made sense to me it'd make it more expensive. I asked to make sure, they said it did, so I declined.

Obviously the staff are instructed to 'upsell'. I once bought a Meatball sub on sub of the day and the girl was trying ever so hard to convince me to add bacon! Meatball marinara is perfect as is though!

I'm currently boycotting subway. I went in not long ago with my 12 year old brother. I bought us the works, a meal with a cookie and 12 sub etc. That came to £12+ i believe. Then we went to find a seat and was told they had closed the upstairs for the day. There was no seats downstairs so the staff expected us to leave clutching our meatball subs. the soggiest sub on the planet. can you imagine eating that out in the street it aint no gregs sausage roll. So luckily someone leaves just before we were about to.

So then were sitting there and this old woman come in. Shes a pensioner and ask about the coffee and sub deal advertised on the shop window. The girl serving her is rude and treating her as senile. Then the woman asked for the sandwich to be toasted and the girl gives her this speech on how it is not included in the price and how it would cost extra. What got to me is that this woman looked so under-nourished and obviously trying to get by on a pension. And this girl was unsupervised and what harm was it to toast the sub for the old lady? Scum the staff and the company as a whole.

I can't comment on the staff member being rude, obviously that's not acceptable though.

However, it is often the case that customers are not aware that there is a price difference between cold and toasted Subs, so this does frequently require explaining. The member of staff doesn't have any sway in charging for the toasted product or not and in addition, it is illegal not to charge the customer the toasted price, as the member of staff would not be charging VAT on the product. I'm afraid you can't criticise the staff for upholding the law.

Yeah they recently changed to make toasted cost more. This is advertised on the menus where I go to but it should be made a bit clearer, as should offering double cheese!

Heres one that got me - I wanted a footlong chicken & bacon. What they didnt tell me was it cost an extra 50p on top of making it a footlong, because of the extra bacon (this is a part of the damn sub!). I argued and eventually paid because I was so damn hungry.

Also, they have a sub called steak & cheese right? Why not just call it steak, because steak & cheese implies additional cheese on top of the cheese that comes with EVERY SUB.

Not the shops fault of course, since every branch is franchised. Stupid people who design the damn menu.

Sandy Beech is right, March 25th will see the deal change to the Italian BMT for £1.79, or £2.99 for the meal. This will last for roughly one month.
