Advice please/morgage application

I live with my partner we are both divorced. The house we live in is in her name and the morgage just never got round to changing it.We have recently sold the house and want to buy another.I am 57 my partner is 44 her present morgage has roughly 20yrs to run.Im self employed partner in full time employment. We dont want to really increase our morgage as we have cash. She earns enough to comfortly enable us to get a bigger morgage if we wished to.The morgage adviser we spoke to said we would have to shorten the lenght of the morgage period because of my age!! would we be better applying in her name only and what are the implications.Anybody help us.
