muffins

I wonder if anyone has a nice basic muffin recipe.I have tried a few but I'm not that impressed.They all seem to be more of a breakfast muffin,not too sweet or cake like.
I'm after something like a cake shop type of thing more "cake like" and a bit sweeter,but not like a fairy cake.If you get what I mean.

Hi MRSTITTLEMOUSE,

I'm not mad about muffins but my kids love them so I make them quite often. I think the trick is to mix the wet ingredients together in one bowl and the dry ingredients in another bowl and combine the two just when you're ready to put them into the oven.

Every time someone mentions muffins I have to post this recipe... they're fab (I use normal bun cases, don't faff about with what they suggest).
