Payplan or CCCS Advice Please

Thanks to everyone for your replies. We are still undecided but think we will be going with CCCS. We are waiting to here from Abbey about how much we owe them and then it's time to take the plunge.
I have to say the whole process is really scary for us. When we first decided that something was wrong it was a huge weight off but now we are both feeling very anxious and can understand why people put it under the carpet and don't deal with it soon enough. i must admit the teephone call from Payplan which we are still to go through is daunting, does anyone know if the CCCS is signed up completely online or do you still have to take a telephone counselling call? I know it sounds stupid but we feel it would be a little less scary to do it online. Does anyone relate to this?
What is everyones experience when signing up? Sorry but we have a hunger for knowledge of what the sign up process involves.
Thanks in advance

I know what you mean about the phonecall, but let me assure nothing you can divulge will shock them trust me. They are so nice on the phone and will make you feel at ease and at the end of the call when they say they can help you, you will sigh with relief, real relief. Good luckThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
What is putting me off going to PP or CCCS is the fact that when you do enter into agreements you will get constant phone calls from those you owe money to. I dont think i could stand that. I have children who may pick up the phone and be alarmed by these called and finding out their parents are in so much debt.0

Hi Kelly and Matt:beer:
We start out DMP with CCCS on 1st April , all token payments for March made. I felt exactly the same about ringing them, but there's nothing to be scared / embarrassed about, if I couldn't shock them with our debts then no one can!!:rotfl:
Take a look at the DMP mutual support thread, they're the guys that will get you through this journey............they've certainly got me to the positive place I am today.:T
Lots and lots of luck:D
MD xxFinally brave enough to deal with my debts!
CCCS DMP - 1.4.2009Couldn't have done it without the guys on the DMP Mutual Support Thread.:T :T :T :TDMP Support Member 2550 -
Yeh when you sign up with CCCS online its all done online and via letters. They call you about 6 months later just to check the budget you set for yourself is working, and revise if required.
I also felt better doing it online at the time. I was in a bit of state and couldn't face speaking to someone about it on the phone
I hope you are both doing okay
Keith: I didn't get any phonecalls as I changed my telephone number just before I started the plan. I only had contact via letters.
I had a very nice letter from Smile today after they sent me out of the blue a request for full payment 1.5 years after I started my DMP. I wrote back asking what they were on about and they aplogised and said it was system generated and that they are happy I am on a DMP with CCCS. They are not all bad

I normally do advise CCCS, even if they couldn't put me on a DMP last year (and nearly, but not quite, extinguished that hopeful candle as a result) but I contacted them today after several months. I noted they had completely altered their telephone system now. Felt it was a bit offputting TBH. Oh, that and the times I was put into a 'queue' then told to phone back later after several minutes on hold. Didn't make a whole lot of sense. Gave up in the end trying to contact them.Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Offered freely, is gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, knowledge gaining. Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.
