To try and cut a long story short, 5 years ago I had a good job etc. etc. then I was made redundant and approximately around the same time found out that I was expecting my first child, which made finding another job that much more difficult. Add to that, all the insurances which I had taken out on loans, credit cards in the event of redundancy became null and void, they wouldn't pay my bills once they learned of my pregnancy.

So it sounds as if you may have been mi-sold these PPI schemes? hve you thought to reclaim on them?

You only have 6 years to do so, so you need to get them in NOW.

Y'know, at the risk of sounding like a complete and utter eejit, I've never even thought of it. For the last few years my mind has been stuffed with debt collectors and generally keeping afloat.

I was made redundant in April 2004 and gave birth to my daughter in October 2004, during the intervening time the only payments to my a/c's were ones that I made and then couldn't keep up, hence my fall from 'grace'.

How would I go about it? I freely admit to knowing nothing of the subject.

Hmmmm Regina... your thread sounds familiar! I personally have had enough harrasement after only 1 telephone call!

Makes you wonder how these people are getting away with it!

Tell me about it, and more to come no doubt. It probably didn't help that when I get nervous I laugh, so I spent the majority of the call laughing down the phone, which can't have helped his mood much! lol:rotfl:

Good for you I say. I imagine after he went off the phone he had a lot to say, though. ;)

I like to think I've met some rude people in my life, in work, everyday life who just want to make life that much harder for you, but I can honestly say that some of these people I have had on the phone before now outdo even those people. Taking the biscuit. ;):D
Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Offered freely, is gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, knowledge gaining. Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.

Don't worry, when I get nervous I joke around... I asked Mr. Brown if Mr. Black, Blue or Green were available because they may have a better understanding of how to collect debt correctly ! Lets just say he didn't find it very funny, I on the other hand was in stitches!
  • I have a 'funnier way'. I simply don't speak to them on the phone. :D

  • Merlin, my initial contact is always by telephone. Thereafter only by writing! Just helps me gauge if the company I am dealing with are helpful (and some are) or not!

Did everyone talk to mr. gallaghar at allied? Ive spoken to him three times now, each time Im sure its a different person! First time he said he could see my office (I only said I worked for the MOD) and asked if he could talk with my Mummy to make sure a cheque didnt bounce! Im 27!

The last time I had to deal with them I said they can send me thier bank details and I will set up a standing order, if they dont like it then they can take me to court...... I got the details back in 4 days and havent heard back since.

Dont let them bully you, it gives them a power trip they dont deserve!
