Post Office Mortgage - Application Process Help

Hi everyone,

My partner and I moved an Approval in Principle to a full application with the Post Office. Got the message it had been successful at that stage. Next day I got a call from the Bristol and West case manager, requesting documents they needed (Pay slips for my partner and they would be requesting employment refs for me). they also said they would be duly instructing the surveryor, which they did, and thats all come back fine.

My question is what is the process? I thought the initial underwrite was completed, if they were satisfied with all docs received they then instructed surveyor, and then offer made? The case officer said once they have got my refs, the file will be passed to a senior underwriter, who may require more docs.

Has anyone been through this, what happens? Why would the survey be completed before intial underwriting and checking completed?

Thanks for your help!

    I'm undergoing the same application:

Submitted the full app last Sunday Evening. The following Tues they rang asking for me to supply payslips & P60 and that they had instructed the surveyor. I believe the survey was completed late last week as I received the report this Tues.

They said that they normally do it this way around, instructing survey/valuation on completion of the second round of (credit-based?) checks (i.e. first set for AIP, second for full app). That way they aren't waiting for the valuation.

They received my payslips on Fri because I addressed them with the wrong reference number (!). I rang yesterday for any advancement and the girl said that it was with the underwriter. She also said that they'd normally call you back with an update on the offer when sending the docs back (usually quite quickly apparently)

    Hope this helps

Just to let you know that I arrived home to my Offer of Loan yesterday (Fri)!

Even though the documentation was dated 10th Mar (the same day I rang for an update) the first I kenw about it was when I received the letter and not a phone call as stated.

So that's 7 working days to decision from application, 2 from receiving my evidence.

    Good luck!!

    Congratulations!

Well they received the employment reference yesterday, and speaking to them they've said 48 hours, so Monday afternoon... Keeping my fingers crossed there are no problems!
