employment contracts help needed

employment contracts help needed please. I thought after 2 years at a company even if you had been on a contract 1 year then 2 6 month contracts would i have a case in law for now being a permanent member of staff as my comany have given me till June and doesn't say anything about renewal. Or is this a get clause for them just to get rid of me easier. help very gratefully received.

  • hi sappoo,

No, it's 4 years on successive fixed=term contracts that gives you the right to ask to be made permanent.

Just hang in there and hope for renewal.

Under the Fixed-term Employees (Prevention of Less Favourable Treatment) Regulations 2002, employees who have been on a fixed-term contract for four years or longer will usually be legally classed as permanent if their contract is renewed or if they are re-engaged on a new fixed-term contract.
