Loans gone mad
Options
I decided to give Marks and Spencer a call as I've had a loan in the past with them.
I ring, she tells me the APR will be 6.6%. Great news. So I go through all the stuff, £6,000 loan, 3years - blah blah. Get to the end, Great news sir, you've been approved but at a slightly higher rate. Define higher rate, 11.89% APR sir... WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!
I let her finish the spiel, works out at £233.61 a month over 3 years.
I decide at this point to ring round quickly - Northern Rocks PC's are busted - lost business there then.
I call nationwide, my current bank. 6.4% for all customers - sounds too good to be true. I wanted £6k, but I said hey lets try £7500 as its at the lower rate. I am successful and the paperwork is in the post.
And for an extra £1500 - it costs me £16extra a month and thats with payment protection (I have a bit of an odd job so needed it). I can also make overpayments at no extra charge - it does not affect the monthly amount but shortens the term of the loan.
Very happy Nationwide customer.
{Note} I have permission to change my mind on that last statement if they beocome !!!!!!.
