£4K Wedding Budget!!

Hi lovely brides-to-be!
My budget is £3k too. But do you know the biggest budget saver?? We're only inviting immediate family only, so only about 16 guests! We're not having a honeymoon (at least not just yet). We're having the reception back at our house with M&S party food and wine. So actually £3k is quite generous, as we're having a posh dinner the night before (I wanted a 'proper' sit down aspect to the wedding somewhere really nice (ie £35-£45 per person excluding drinks - the guests can buy their own!). We will probably invite a few close friends to the evening reception but thats about it. Everyone dear to me not invited will get a little card with a wedding pic of us on it - its actually customary to do this where my family is from anyway (Finland).
I think my biggest saving so far was my dress - I saved £500! I got a ex display from a shop for £500 (it was £1000!). I love it to bits. Thats actually one thing I didn't want to compromise on, was my dress (or flowers!). I don't mind not having many people there, or not having a proper bridal car (I think we'll get a black cab or then just get the FIL to drive us in his Golf!) or bridesmaids...
Actually one saving tip I'd say is hire a make-up artist - mine is costing me £70 including a trial, but I normally don't wear make-up and I'd have to buy lots of fancy make up for the wedding which I would then not wear anymore. So £70 is quite a bargin, considering she uses high end stuff like Chanel and her results are amazing!
But I guess it depends on all you want. I've gone for a tiny wedding, but hopefully not skimping on the quality!0 -
Congrats to all, your days sound lovely! Only thing I would coment on Wisteria is that a friend went to a wedding recently where no drinks were provided, not even one to toast the B & G, and the guests werent too happy!!Compulsive Spendaholic #150
