I wanna make a will

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good, not necessarily the cheapest will making pack. Its probably a dumb question but I assume these type of packs are legally binding?

Thanks

  • From my experience I would not look past a local Solicitor. Some will do a single will for say £70 but they may do a deal for a couple for £90 therefore it could work out better value @ £45 each.

My figures are an example and not a reflection of an accurate price.

    Hope that helps a lil.

Many charities, including Help-the-Aged, will consider free wills if a legacy is to be included.

However, I would suggest, from personal experience, the main issue is to decide how to arrange one's assets to minimise Inheritance Tax liability and ensure the optimum distribution of your wealth - whatever level that may be.

This obviously means there will be different issues depending on the total potential value of the estate.

If you search for 'WILLS' at the beginning of all forums, you may find more useful information.

There are some shops like WHS and maybe Woolworths and Wilkos that do Will making packs from a firm called Lawpack for around £10. They have all the information in and instructions.

  • We've arranged for a guy to visit in 2 weeks regarding making a will. This Companys leaflet was sent from the Britannia Building Society together with our new re-mortgaging deal that was set-up a couple of months back. They charge about £270 I think.

Still haven't sorted a will yet!
We've now been quoted £650 for a nil band rate will writing service!!
Our lives/money aren't that complicated but this seems pricey. I know you can get will writing packages for next to nothing but are they really worth it? Surely not.
C'mon all you IFA's (Dunstonh) advice please.
