I found a nice house with low energy efficiency, should I buy it?

Hi guys. I raised this topic and the outcome is that I agreed on 152k price and am starting the legal process. I've looked at other properties and did not like any or the ones I would like are far outside my budget, therefore I have decided on this one.
Good news. If you can find somewhere that makes you happy & you can afford it, go for it. Me, I'm still looking!0 -
Good luck, I hope it all goes smoothly!0

It'll be interesting watching 'persuasion' at work, whether by price or edict. Personally, I think it is well under way, judging by what this energy-inefficient house I'm renting (temporarily) costs in winter weeks!
I'm not sure about cladding old properties that were designed to 'breathe.' People have been busy slapping modern waterproof finishes on these for the past 50 years or so, then wondering why they're damp!
At least where I'm planning to go, wood isn't in short supply.
Are you off to Jewsons?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. The one where you showed us Dithering Dad is a complete liar. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE Forum Team0 -

Most of us end up surrounded by wood, even if only for a short time.
I hear wicker is having a revival among the greens, but it's still wood.;)0 -

I used to own an old 1930's semi with two downstairs fireplaces and suspended wooden front room floor. It had wooden framed doubled glazing. It was freezing! Heating seemed to just take a chill off and disappear through the roof floors and walls (no cavity) It cost a fortune to heat and I hated it for that. It just seemed like a waste of heat and money. OK, the house looked nice as it was old, but I couldn't wait to move back into something 80's built. Personally I think the best built houses were from 1960 -1970 as they had cavity walls good insulation, and no soddy build standards had set in yet. And no plasterboard walls in sight!0

The owner said they pay fixed fee to British gas around £70 a month for gas + electricity.
Yes, but have they told you what the last bill came to?
I was paying 39 quid a month for gas but my last quarterly bill was 750 quid. (an old victorian 3 bed house which is very cold despite the bills)0 -

Someone local makes wicker coffins, they are really lovely.
Much nicer than the previous eco one...the cardboard box. I always had a sort of worry about any mis dealt with ''ooze'' in a carboard one. 0 -

One of the old houses on my Rightmove list, now sadly gone, had the agent's footnote: 'N.B. A previous owner is interred on the land.'
I quite fancy the idea. My parents are scattered over part of Longleat, which is what they wanted, but that's a bit nebulous for me. I want a specific location to haunt!0 -

Very un eco friendly:o I think my final home will be as diamond shirt studs for DH's dress shirt. So he can still take me out in the evening
Obviously he'll then have to be buried/cremated in evening suit 0
