what kind of debt is this
is it council tax or a ccj ? is it a small claims form ? please let us know !0 -
I am really confused, surely the bayliff should be recovering the debt
it is probably worth pming herbie21 as she is an expert in bayliffs.
Also check out the www.nationaldebtline.co.uk website there may be advice there about what you need to do but I am guessing you need to go via the courts.£34,547 (Dec 07); Current debt: £zilch (Debt free December 2010)

THis is from the insolvency helpline website:

ccj, old bank loan. i was reading about how to get the warrant and apparantly an enforment officer cannot recover less than £600 is this true? i have had no other previous correspondence on the 'debt' and the company chasing it say they cant give me any documents to support it0

is there any way of buying time to investigate this further anyone?0

Sorry, but oh yes they do have to. Otherwise anyone old Tom, !!!!!! nor Harriet Jones could accost you in the street and say 'you owe me £100 pound I loaned you 10 years ago, I want it back now!'.
But, I am a little confused about the rest as someone else mentioned. But one thing is missing. Have you actually been taken to court? You mentioned the CCJ, yes. Or have you changed addresses since and you have been traced to your current one. And a CCJ has been issued by default. Seemingly. Somethings not making sense.
Especially here:
Yet a bailif has shown up at your home asking for money? Something is missing from this process. Hence the confusion.i have had no other previous correspondence on the 'debt' and the company chasing it say they cant give me any documents to support it
Buying time? Erm, maybe you should contact the issuing court who issued the CCJ against you? Just to clarify things. As they should at least have had something with a court addresss, contact on it. Mmm. All I can suggest, apart from what someone else has suggested you get in touch with.Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Offered freely, is gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, knowledge gaining. Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.

a bailiff hasnt been to my house, i had a letter from them0

Well, there you go then. But, just one thing ...
And why's that, then? Cos reading between the lines ... I know what a court would be thinking right about now about that. On the face of it. I'd do what was suggested to you about contacting Herbie21.i have moved, but my parents still get my mail and have had no correspondance until this letter.i have paid the bailiff who says he has done with it and that i need to contact the creditor to arrange payment, only im not sure i agree with what they are claiming, is there anything i can do? many thanks
Anyway. Whatever. Whether they have been to your house or not. This is all very confusing. Anyway, hope you get it sorted out because ... it's confusing.Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return.
