Grandma s will...how long?

Ok ..grandma died in Jan in Canada.
She was my dads mum,but she put dad up for adoption when he was young, but later remarried moved to Canada and had another son. We have known gran for 40 years, she has always been in our lives,as she tracked dad down years ago.She made a will, and when dad went over for funeral, his brother arranged everything for him,and told dad that she had left him$50k and me,my brother, nephew all $20k each, and various other things plus her house to uncle.
question is,how long should it take to sort? and as dad never saw the will, does he have a claim to see it,if anything should go awry?

Dad thinks that because she relinquished him by adopting him out,he has no legal claim on anything of hers, but i say because she made a will,he can see it and he will get it.
The only catch is, she made will a few years ago and since then her late husband needed a care home and she had respite and care before she died,so we think these $$ may not be there now,so then what happens??

Sorry if this sounds as though we are grabbing, but we dont quite know the ins and outs.

I don't know about Canadian law, but in UK, as far as I know......you can leave a bequest to anyone, they do not have to be related.

And, I'm pretty sure that all funeral expenses are met and any debts...then any bequests are met and what's left goes to whoever it is willed to.

It will depend upon the wording and also Canadian law.
