debt managers ltd Query

I received a letter from debt managers & numerous phone calls telling me they would take me to court & I would get black listed. I was not sure about this so I agreed to pay as I did not want to have to go court & possibly pay costs. I have been paying regular as they said if I miss a payment it would go against me. The thing that makes me unsure is that they offered to drastically reduce the debt if I can pay in one lump sum. I was wondering if someone could clarify where I stand as I have already made payments towards this debt?

What do you mean where do you stand?
Lots of DCA's (debt collection agencies) will offer you a full & final settlement which is often a lot less than you actually owe them. If you can afford it then it go for it.

Make sure you get it in writing from them as Full and Final Settlement. If not, you might find it is a partial settlement and it could come back around to bite you on the a$$!start = Wed 19th Nov 2008 £21,225
end = Mon 28th Sept 2015 DEBT FREE!
I love a good plan - it may not work.... but I love a good plan!0 -
Are you sure this is a valid debt, not statute barred, and that they have a copy of the original signed agreement?0

I have a debt with Marshall Ward Catalogue for just over £1000. Without any contact from MW i got a phone call from Debt Managers Ltd requesting payment in full or in two payments, I told them i do not have the money to pay them a lump sum but if they came up with a reasonable payment plan i might manage to pay it but insisted that if i don't pay it they will take me to court.
Yesterday i was in hospital after having several heart attacks in the past three months and came home to be told by my Eleven year old daughter that she had taken a message for me from DM Ltd they told her that i had to contact them immediately and gave my daughter the phone number and a reference number for me to contact them then asked her if she was a relative. Can they do this ? and where do i go from here. I am in quite poor health at the moment so don't want to get into any slanging matches on the phone.0 -
First thing is that there is no legal requirment for you to telephone them.
Second is that if you have serious health problems they are supposed to suspend all action until you recover.
So please go get a cuppa or whatever and relax.
