% of your take home salary on mortgage payments?

Interesting thread - with me and Husband to be's income we pay 14% of our take home income on our mortgage. Which allows us to save a good amount each month...however, we are looking to purchase a bigger house soon and we are looking at increasing the amount we pay to 28%. Which seems alot but I know it will still be comfortable.0

We are on fixed rate 5.14% and pay around 33% net income although we are just starting to pay an extra 20% so it will be around 40%.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0

Theres not many from the MF board that venture here.
SMF2 does. I do. DD does. But not many.
It's a very different board. Halfway to DFW if you ask me.
As for the retired....... you posted at 6.50pm..... I'd imagine they are asleep.0 -

Didn't think you would want us telling you we don't pay anything anymore - but if you want me to then, I paid off my mortgage last year so 0% for me:D"there are some persons in this World who, unable to give better proof of being wise, take a strange delight in showing what they think they have sagaciously read in mankind by uncharitable suspicions of them"(Herman Melville)0 -

Or a really cruddy spa!
No, really, very scented water, lots of steam: good for the pores.
Its warm (I don't use central heating, so I've been known to put washes on just to have some ironing to do in winter) and to DH's delight I iron in underwear (because of the heat).0 -

I think I've heard it all now. But each to his/her own.
Talking about ironing, I ought to go and do some. It's a great feeling to have a pile of freshly ironed garments, problem is the next day there's a new pile waiting.0
