Private pension help needed please xx

Does anybody know the threshold is for private pensions?

What I mean is how much do the CSA limit the NRP's earnings being paid into a pension scheme?

Any help is greatly appreciated xx

As far as I'm aware, on the old scheme (CS1), there is no limit but the NRP has an allowance for only half the payment.

On CS2, I don't believe there is any limit at all & the NRP is assessed only on his/her net income.

When the new CMEC rules come in, all maintenance assessments will be based on the NRP's gross wage, so the pension payment will not affect the assessment.

That is so unfair!! How come the PWC gets money based on the gross and the NRP gets what's left after the goverment have taken tax and NI. The RP will be getting maintenence that hasn't been taxed!!

The allowances are changing from 15% of net pay to 12% of gross & I think, 16% instead of 20% & so on.
As you say, I wouldn't be at all surprised if the NRP will probably end up out of pocket.

That cuts both ways - there are plenty of 'fathers' out there also wishing to screw the system who are quite happy to see their children live on the poverty line.
  • I agree....and my husband isn't one of them. Please note I added the word 'some' in my previous post.

There's always been 'some' on both sides which is possibly the reason why housing costs were removed when csa2 came in and pension costs will be removed when csa3 arrives. It is always the 'minority' who are hellbent on getting more or pay less who spoil things for the majority.

Unfortunately, the CSA are not allowed to "give a monkeys" or otherwise.
They are only there to apply a rigid formula as laid down in law, regardless of the consequences to both the PWC, the NRP & their families.
That's why, in my opinion, the old court system was better. At least you would have a judge that was at least partly human & would listen to representations from both sides & hopefully make as fair a decision as possible.

I honestly don't think it has anything to do with the children, it's an ongoing war between the parents. In some circumstances the PWC revokes contact because the NRP won't dance to her tune. (because she has her weapon, the child) So, the NRP uses his (money) and tries to fiddle the system.
Every case has circumstance and this is why many parents feel the system is unfair because they are being treated unfairly by a former spouse/partner.
