how do I get rid of the smell of burnt wood in a room?

I had a tenant cause a mini fire a month back or so. I had the most damaged parts of the carpet and floor replaced and left the room to air.

However the smell of burnt floor (wood) is still noticeable when you walk into the room

any ideas on how I can get rid of this?

thanks

You could try hiring an ozone generator for a week or so, that might help.

I've never used one myself but a cousin of mine had a housefire and that was what she was advised to use. I *think* that some of their stuff was treated professionally by the insurance company (in a big ozone generator), and then they were told to hire one of these small ozone things for the house. Looking at the link, it's only £30 for a week so it's not a great deal of money to lose if it's not effective.

If all the burnt materials have been removed the smell will go away naturally in time, just try leaving the windows open and getting some fresh air in the place.

If the fire was that bad the room may need cleaning out again or redecorating as the smoke & smell may have left residue on the walls, ceiling, furniture, etc.

thanks, I will give it a try. I am guessing the smell is coming from the floor. had the worse bits replaced, but the remainder may still pong.

I tried airing the room for four weeks, and this week will sand the surrounding wood. someone mentioned saucers of baking soda.

Try Oust for a few days, then stop to see if it comes back.
Its a bit cheaper than a machine hire cost.
