Hi,
Can anyone explain to me a bit more about protected income and assessable income when it comes to a re-assessment?
Which one to do they use to make the calculations? I'm starting to get very confused.
Our assessable income based on calculations from the on-line leaflet is £28.29 per week and our protected income is £128.62 based on 30% net income per week.
Anyone that can shed any light for me would be great.
Thanks.

Assessable income is the income which is left after your exempt income has been taken off your net income. Your protected income is what you must be left with every week after paying child support. If by paying the amount left over will leave you with either the protected income or more, then you will pay the full rate, but if it leaves you with less then you pay the difference between them so could be between nil and the full notional amount.0
