Judith, they'd work out what the value was now, not what it was when you got your deal.

bikingbarney, Halifax's SVR is 3.5% at the moment. Halifax won't know about your renovations so will almost certainly believe you're in negative equity. This may or may not have an impact on whether they offer you another deal.
  • so just out of intrest what would happen then ???

No idea to be honest - why don't you phone Halifax and ask them what the value of your property is according to their records? Then you could ask them how you appeal it when you come to remortgage. It is a bit early for them to be definite, but they should give you an idea - I always find them to be helpful.
  • just rang halifax and they said my house is worth 109000 on the index linked house prices!!!!

    getting worried now !!

but saying that there are houses on my estate in worse condition than mine going for 139000 upwards.
