Temping agencies sound like the way to go.
    Good luck!

  • Good luck with your job hunt. Agencies are good for work while you can't get anything permanant. Some temping leads to full time work eventually.

I wouldn't wait until you have moved in - if you have handed in your notice you won't be able to claim benefits. I relocated two years ago and had a job before I arrived, simply through sending out over 30 CVs and chasing them up by phone and in person. How recently have you had some fresh (experienced) eyes look at your CV? Are you in an area of the industry that is suffering with the state of the economy? Do you have transferrable skills?

I don't know your industry, but that statement says to me your covering letter and/ or CV are not hitting the mark. Either you are applying for jobs you are not experienced or qualified for, or you are not showing the prospective employer that you meet all the essential criteria. I notice you don't use capital letters in your sentences, and make quite a few typos - I assume someone second checks your applications? What standard is your grammar and vocabulary?

Is there anyone at your old job you trust to give you harsh but constructive criticism? Or a friend of the family who has been a manager and done lots of appointing? There are also organisations around and about who can guide you on the modern style or books such as "Brilliant CV".

Hope this doesn't sound too rude - Mum was an English teacher and Dad a manager in public service (lots of interviewing) so I know all the pitfalls! :o
