This something that I've been thinking of too. There's only 2 of us, and I'm wondering how long the cooked meat would last for?
You could slice the meat then portion it up and freeze it, then just take a pack out of the freezer as and when you need to?

Hmmm it's £35, £40 with delivery... but if you spend £50 you get delivery free.

Are there any other lakeland must haves?? Might as well go for the full £50 if im putting in an order, i have to admit i was eying up the yogurt maker a couple of months ago.

It is definitely cheaper to buy a joint of ham and slice it yourself. I did the maths here ;)

There is a Lakeland product thread here that might be useful to you. I recommend:

    oven cleaner
    silicone baking sheets
    oven liner
    fabric bread bag
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D

Oh dear, you've started with Lakeland, you're on a slippery slope now there's no hope left!

I wouldn't know where to start with Lakeland "must haves", perhaps the whole shop? :D

Seriously though, there's a huge thread with the best and worst to buy at Lakeland. For me my best buys have been their foil, clingfilm, stay fresh bags and their burger maker.

Angela's post has just reminded me their fabric storage bags are very good, I've got potato, onion, mushroom and cheese preserving bags.

So...this might be a stupid question but is there much/any difference between ham and gammon?

We eat a lot of pre-packed ham and would love to start cooking up my own - wouldnt know where to start! :o

All sounds great, only downside is needing a £35 slicer to cut the meat...

Would an electric knife do the same job? They are only £8 at Argos.

An electric knife would do the job but the slices may be a bit thicker, I've never been able to get thin slices with the knife.

It may be worthwhile to try on freecycle or ebay for one first before buying, it's the type of thing people sometimes get for a wedding present but never use.

Edit: they're only £29.34 on Amazon with free supersaver delivery but they're out of stock at the moment.
