HSBC Remortgage advice please

My graduate mortgage with HSBC is at the rate of 6.99% currently (fixed for 2 years;term finishing soon).Having checked the documents, it says I will be on 'HSBC variable' when the current term finishes. My credit score is not that great hence I am not sure whether will it affect my prospects a good re-mortgage deal from a new lender.

If I chose to stay with HSBC:

1) Would they do a credit check and valuation of the property?
2) What would be the rate applicable to me?

Advice from members would be greatly appreciated

    1) No - unless you want to increase the borrowing or extend the term.
    2) Contact them to ask.
  • Thanks Andy :T

2)Having looked at HSBC website, it is 3.94% at the moment.
Wondering whether I should fish for better deals from other lenders. But then they would do a credit check/valuation,wouldn't they?

    Yes absolutely.
You mention you're on a graduate package so I'm guessing you may have taken 100%/95% LTV - this, added to the credit issues, would negate moving elsewhere.
