How to go about changing Doctor?

my Doctor has retired after been with her for 16 years.
and a male doctor has taken her place and he's been put down as my new doctor.
do i have to stay with him or can i ask for one of the other female doctors to be my doctor?
How do i go about changing Doctor?

    If its the same practice you can just ask to be seen by the docotor of your choice but to make it official, you need to take in your medical card and ask to be put on the list of one of the other doctors. They may not have room to officially swap you there and then as each GP will have their own list which may be full. but any good practice will do their best to get you in to see the doctor of choice

    Hi sue, don't worry too much as the fact that they've signed you on to another Drs 'books' is simply them 'going through the system' of what they need to do. If you ask straight away to be with Dr X instead, then I'm sure they'll be more than happy to let you do that as it's one contented patient straight away and less hassle for them. It's your right to see a female Dr BTW.
