Employer going bust whilst on maternity leave ?

Hello,

I currently work in the accounts for a company that is desperately struggling and there is a very good chance it will go into administration.

I am currently 21 weeks pregnant and presuming I make it past the 25 week window, what will happen to my SMP if it does go into administration ?

I know I'm still entitled to SMP if I'm made redundant but surely if the company goes into administration, how will they be able to pay me SMP/ claim it back from the government ?

Your advice is appreciated.

I'm pretty sure that your SMP, along with any redundancy you were entitled to, would come from some government compensation scheme if that happened.

I know there IS a scheme for redundancy.
