You could add a little bit of cornflour or flour or add grated carrot etc or chopped tomatoes to it.

  • Bread will thicken it too if you have no flour.

What else are you cooking with it? If you are using it as a bolognese sauce base, you can add some grated carrot or a handful of porridge oats to it which will thicken it up a bit.

Or for plain savoury mince, maybe add some beef gravy granules (or a crumbled stock cube and a thickening agent such as cornflour dissolved in a little bit of water).

Or peeled potatoes, chopped into tiny pieces. That'll thicken it up.

mix some cornflour with cold water and stir in. Between 2 and 4 teaspoons should do it :) Good luck!

try a handful of porridge oats, I always use some, it stretches it further and thickens it, so no need for flour bisto or cornflour :j

OK thanks everybody :) In the end I did a bit of everything, shoved the potatoes through, added more flavouring, and scattered in some flour.
Then the big sod said he hadnt wanted mince anyway he wanted haggis. ARRGGHH !
