Your employer has a legal duty to make "reasonable adjustments" for your disability. I would ask your doctor to clarify what he thinks you can and cannot do the take advice from the CAB or ACAS. It may the that a mention of disability discrimination will make you employer have a re-think!0

If its unlikely you'll ever be able to do heavy lifting again, then either your employer needs to re-arrange your job so that you only do things that you can do
or if that can't be done for whatever reason then you should be made redundant I would guessIndecision is the key to flexibility0 -
Maybe your boss is worried about being sued by you, even though your doctor's signed you off.
So you start work do something that he considers light work but you end up injuring yourself and take Argos to the cleaners.
I'm not saying you would do this, just maybe what he thinks you might do.If freedom is outlawed, only outlaws will have freedom.0 -
When you have this meeting with your boss make sure that the HR advisor is there and maybe the area manager too? What area do you come under? If you're in the south west our new area manager is great!
There are PLENTY of jobs to do that don't involve ladders or heavy lifting:- Tills
- Customer service
- Kiosk buddy (if you are a resourced store)
- Collection (someone can help with the heavy lifting)
- Over stickers/inserts
- Jewellery
- Stock counts
We had a girl who was pregnant and they let her work on the till the whole time she was with us.
How long have you worked there? Do you not qualify for compant sick pay? Have a look in the employee handbook, it will tell you what you are entitled to.
If you feel you are not getting anywhere with them then perhaps contact John Douglass who is head of store operations0 -

We do not know if the OP has a disability - that hasn't been determined.0 -

Well i had a meeting with my boss today And he has done a bit of a U turn on things. Frist off when i got there he had a witness in the office with him which i didnt mind but didnt think it was a formal meeting but anyway. I explain the ins and outs again that i wanted to return and that my doctor was happy for me to do that as long as i was on lite work. Told him that id spoke with Citizens advice about what was happen and the fact that there was other staff there on lite work. So as it turns out he now says he is happy for me to come back to work on lite stuff for a few weeks to see how it goes but il just be getting 18 hours a week which i cant say no to as that my con but always did 30 to 40 every week from i started but anyway dont thing i can do anything about that.09 Wins= 5 Rugby balls, 3 Football. I'm glad you've sorted something out. Shame about your hours, but if you're on a 18 hour contract there's not a lot you can do about it. I'm on 18 and very rarely do anymore than 20 except xmas and cat launch.
Get yourself on the till become a FS star ;-)0 -
