What age does maintenace stop?

I have been trying to find out and am now feeling confused. My ex has quit his job to avoid maintenance, so his wife can work knowing the csa cannot touch her earnings. He is claiming JSA, the csa have said they were going to start taking £5 a week of it for maintenance (a year ago) but i have seen none of it.
So my question is how long can he not work for to avoid this, eldest is going to be 16 this year, can leave school next summer. Will his responsibility to her end then?

some mums will get benefits, still work and take every penny entitled from the CSA. This could be up to the age of 19, if the child is in further education.0

Ok thanks Zara.
Well as he avoided paying it for so many years while i struggled to feed/clothe her and my DS I hope it ends up with him having to pay it until she is 19 (assuming he doesn't let his wife support him for 3 more years to avoid it)0 -

If you have evidence that he quit his job to avoid maintenance, you can appeal under the deprivation of income rules.0

sorry to jump in, but kelloggs - can you let me know more about this, as my ex has def quite his job to avoid paying - he brags about it all the time
i was under the impression that i couldnt do anything - the csa put a deo in place, but he went on long term sick. HIs half pay sick pay runs out this month, and i know he is looking for another job, but not in a real hurry IYSWIM!0 -

Thanks, I didn't know that, though unfortunately in my case I cannot prove it, he told me he did it but there were no other witnesses, so it would be my word against him.
But that is very valuable information for someone in that position who is able to prove it.0 -

Thanks for the information and link, having read through, from what I understand my ex's income is not touched due to being on the newer(?) system of the CSA, I do recall getting a letter from them quite a while ago saying that my claim was being transfered to a newer system.
All I can hope is that something occurs and he needs to find work, then it will be issue solved!0
