            Really confused now:D
Are you saying that if you get a Nil tax code you don't have any tax deducted at source?
If that's the case how do you work out how much tax you need to pay each month and how do you 'send' it to them?
 OR
Do Moon Beaver only come into play if you have an IPA?0

Looked at the sticky - thank you.
What a nightmare way to do it! and I was just beginning to think it was all so straight forward!
I will ring the court tomorrow and hope they still have space on the 3rd otherwise it's going to be a real pain with the HB!0

I have confirmed with Insolvency Helpline today that because I am going BR on 3rd April 2009 they will probably not bother with making my tax code nil for a few pence!
I am so glad I had this information and would advise anyone on Housing benefits to get their BR in before April 6th 2009 if they can as this extra income could be taken into account and in our case would nil us for that benefit. 0 0

I rang Brighton court today and they are now working from the 6th April so I have had to book that, no appointments left for this tax year.
I might try Portsmouth though as we are in between the two and see if they have anything.0

You wil find that it is one court or the other who deals with your postcode area. Our nearest court is in our county but we are dealt with by the court that is further away and in the next county, go figure!! But do check, you never know.
Give Brighton a ring every day to see if they have a cancelation, I know a couple on here have got lucky that way.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0

Thanks tigerfeet, I rang Portsmouth, who operate a drop in (no appointments) system and would have been perfect but with my postcode I do have to go to Brighton.
They did say to ring each day to check for cancellations but it is very unusual to get a joint cancellation.
So looks like it will have to be the 6th! and we'll have to deal with the nil tax code nightmare, and the fact they don't like co-op accounts opened prior to BR! arrhh0

It was me who had the HB hassle. Basically because I was on nil tax code, the HB people said it was counted as income, even though I had no choice but to pay it to Moon Beever. They reduced my HB accordingly, plus arrears  I stopped paying the IPA, contacted the OR and asked them what we should do.
They contacted the HB people who refused to back down. OR wasn't sure what to do and said they would get back to me. Moon Beever got in touch because I wasn't paying, and I emailed them, cc'ing the Brighton OR's office basically saying I wasn't going to pay the IPA as they were basically taking money from my benefits which they weren't allowed to do.
OR got in touch and said if I could prove that HB had been cut, they would discontinue the IPA. I sent them all of the notification papers from HB, showing the reduction in HB and the arrears and haven't heard anything since. :AGet free advice before embarking on bankruptcy: CCCS 0800 138 1111 National Debtline 0808 808 4000
