Advice on outdoor airer please!!

The weather today inspired me to put the washing outside.

However, even though I weighted down the indoor clothes airer, they kept blowing over. So, I want to get an outdoor airer but can't get a rotary one as it will disturb the way the garden works. There isn't 2 walls close enough to have a retractable line. :o

I found the Mrs Peggs washing line

but as I can't see how it's weighed down, am guessing it'll fall apart.

The Brabantia wall fix is 25m drying space but not sure how well it hides away

The leifheit combifix is only 10m drying space. :(

Any advice/suggestions on what I can do would be much appreciated.

I got the brabantia wall fixed one the other week and its brilliant; easy to operate and closes tight to the wall and has a cover looks quite neat and its well made - just get someone to fit it well and at the right height for you. Bit pricey I paid £65 offof ebay but my wife and I are both pleased with it.

I've been looking at these but one thing worries me, doesn't your nice clean washing flap against the wall?

I bought the Brabantia wall fixed dryer last year too, I agree it's a brilliant product. Expensive but will last for years so well worth it. I only have a small yard so no space for a rotary dryer or washing line. I haven't had a problem with washing flapping against the wall...... and it folds up really easily when you're not using it.

I looked at these options a few months ago. The Mrs Peggs one would have been my first choice. I like that you can move it to catch the sun through the day, and that it folds up for storage. Like anguk I wonder whether the clothes would be touching the wall on the Brabantia one.

In the end I bought a very small rotary line and put it in the only bit of good lawn in my tiny garden
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

You mentioned that you don't have two opposite walls. Neither do we... we bought this retactable line which comes with hooks that the ends of the lines attach to. We fixed the contraption to the house wall and the hooks to a 7ft concrete fence post at the end of the garden. I would imagine it'd work to a wooden fence or tree too. Any slack is wrapped round holders under the unit (our garden is no where near 30m!) and height gained using a wooden pole if we're drying sheets. I've also zig zagged it to a side fence first when I had loads of washing to dry.

I bought a Metaltex Alisio 3 Tier Airer from Tesco Direct...they are £20 at the moment and it has been great.

I haven't had a problem with it blowing over as I put 2 bricks on the bottom bars to stabilize it.

The big bonus is that it is so easy to grab it and bring it inside when it rains.

    I hope that helps.
