Bankruptcy & subsequent marriage
fatherinlaw
My future son-in-law is likely to go bankrupt because of house repossession. If he marries my daughter after his bankruptcy( he has a job with a decent salary) can the Official Receiver come on to my daughter for part of her salary does anyone one know? Can my daughter be affected in any other way by his bankruptcy? I have seen the postings in the forum about joint applications and affect on my daughter's credit rating!!

If they have joint financial links then her credit rating will be affected. If they marry and move in together then all the OR is interested in is how much your daughter contributes to the joint household bills, not her full salary. This is so that the OR can impose or up any potential IPA (income payments agreement.)BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0

You daughter's salary will not be used to pay anything to the OR. As long as they don't get (or apply for) credit together she will not be affected.
