I wanna do a 32 mile bike ride

Im a bit fit - play badminton twice a week and go to the gym twice a week and dont mind a bit of hard work if it is exercise. Im thinking of doing a 32 mile charity bike ride - Middlesbrough Transporter Bridge to Sunderland Stadium of Light - wondered if this is 'doable' or is to too far. I am thinking of going to a couple of spinning classes a week for training. Also what should I wear and how long would it take approximately. I used to ride to work 6 miles each way every day which was absolutely no problem at all.

32 miles should not be a problem, I am not all that fit but have been known to do 15 miles, go round a shopping centre, then do 15 miles back, albeit about 4 years ago.
Good idea to use padded shorts, and wear something bright obviously. I personally would not do 32 miles straight off right now, but I do not get as much exercise as you do at the moment. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
32 miles should be achievable, my son did a 60 mile one at 11 years old for charity, it should have been 50miles but someone mis-counted. Spinning is an excellent way of building stamina, but get the road miles in as it is different cycling in the fresh air, and as has been said, get padded shorts as it is my sore bum that makes me give up, but it gets easier the more miles you do.
The time it takes will obviously depend on your speed, get a speedometer and do some longish journeys to see how you go.
Good luck and well done in doing it for charity.0 -
As mentioned padded shorts a must and wear layers so you can take them off when it gets warm and put them back on for going downhill or when its cold. Glucose sweets help replenish your sugar levels and just take it all at a moderate pace.0
