Mortgage £100 more than what was on offer?

How can they give it to them for the original amount if the sums don't add up? If they underpay their mortgage by £100 a month, then there will be a huge shortfall at the end of the term. They will still be liable to pay this somehow. Or should the other members of the Nationwide pay more interest on their loans and overdrafts to cover the shortfall? How is that fair?
As I said before, I expect their contract states that they have agreed to borrow £x amount at y% which they will repay over z years, not that they have agreed to pay £545 per month.
Tbh, I am sick of all this 'someone made a mistake, how can I profit?' attitude.
take it to the fsa and see what they say, they sign up to the mortgage code etc and they have to be accountable, if they make a mistake they make the loss, its not a case of profiting its gettting the contracted amount full stop. if the calculations are wrong then its NW fault not the poster. what would you expect if at the end of the term NW had been collecting £100 less and they realised they had made a mistake in the original offer and then came back to the poster for the other amount would you expect them to pay the difference, I dont think so.0 -
Hi, sorry i don't get on the net everyday but have just had a call from nationwide they have said that as i am within 1 month of the mortgage starting they will switch me to their base rate with no tie in period and refund my £999 fee i paid for the fixed rate - means my payments go down by around £200 per month - many thanks for all the advice given on here, it goes to show they do make mistakes and are happy to help - all i have to do now is send the copy of my mortgage offer through as proof of the error0
