Veneer came off!

I've only very recently had veneers put on my front 6 teeth. Last one came off and I'm really disapointed as they were looking great and I've tried to be really careful.
I'm going to go via the dentists on my way to work and fingers crossed one of the dentists will be able to reattach the veneer. If they say they can't do it then and I have to make an appointment and come back another time, is there something I can use in the meantime to attach it temporarily?
I'm assuming/hoping that I wont have to pay the dentist to reattach the veneer. They were only put on on Friday!
My hubby suggested the adhesive used for attaching false teeth, but not sure if that is just daft or not.

Just thought, this veneer that came off was on the same tooth area where my temporary veneer broke off. Not sure if that is relevant.0

Veneers are very fragile things when off the tooth. It might be safer to just wrap it up and keep it in a little box than try and stick it back on, sneeze, and fire it across a room.
It's probably not as obvious that it's missing as you feel it is.
It could be that the bite is a bit close in that particular position, which is why there's been problems there with both temporary and real veneer. This should be able to be adjusted though. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
Thanks Toothsmith, I hoped you might be around.0

A different one of my veneers has come off and I've been super careful, I'm so fed up!! I can't believe it, I was so pleased with how they looked but now I feel really disapoited.
I've got to sort out yet another !!!!!!!' trip to the dentist now!!0 -
Ahhh - the downside of '10 years younger'!
It happened to me a few months ago (With the wife of a recently retired dentist who'd chosen me to see now that her hubby had retired). I had to replace a broken veneer on her, and mine came off twice before we finally got it right!!
I bet it was devine intervention, as she was always telling her husband how I was better than him at injections at the front of the mouth.
I bet he loved it that my veneer fell of twice when he got it right first time!!!
The important thing SkintMonkey is that the dentist fixes it with good grace - bad things happen to us all occasionally. How to find a dentist.

I guess, I do like my dentist (and her dental nurse) and I do think its just one of those things, but it is starting to make me a little paranoid about the others coming off (I'm too scared to floss at the moment!!)
I've started to eat very differently for fear of more (particularly the front ones) falling off.
It may be that I grind my teeth at night and that's what's doing it as it's in the same place (but other side) to the other one that came off if that makes sense.0 -
Toothgrinding is something that should have been taken into consideration. Personally, I wouldn't do veneers on an uncontrolled grinder. Has he offered some sort of biteguard?
You really shouldn't have to modify what or how you eat (within reason) with veneers. How to find a dentist.

I find that debonding veneers are due to the following reasons:
1. Grinding
2. Over-prepped and bonded to too much dentine.
The surface of the veneer also really needs to be treated in the laboratory to make it suitable for rebonding.Whether you think you can, or think you can't, you are usually right.0 -
I've never particularly thought of myself as a grinder before and husband hasn't mentioned that he's noticed that I grind in my sleep.
I feel I am changing the way I eat out of paranoia as I don't want another one to come off. I will talk to the dentist about a bitguard thing in case that is what the problem is.0 -
I'm a dentist and I had a veneer put on years ago (long story about a fight with my brother and a kitchen door) which broke the first night I had it and I'm not a grinder but I do tap my teeth together when I'm doing stuff (like now, I'm waiting for my patient and a bit bored). They are simple in principle but technically can be quite tricky and it's so frustrating when they come off. I don't tend to do a great deal because of the nature of my patient base but I definitely wouldn't do one on anyone who was heavy on their occlusion.
I now have a lovely dentine bonded crown that even one of the army's restorative specialists couldn't spot until she did an exam on my (very happy with that!)0
