Does anyone know if it is a requirement of a transfer of equity for the deeds of my house to be put in my sole name that I take out Chancel Insusrance.

or parish which continues to have a potential chancel repair
liability
based upon historical parish boundary data and the relevant
Langleys say that it is a requirement that I take out the insurance or they cannot transfer the deeds, other solicitors say it is not necessary.
Any help would be appreciated.

I think the question is "how much is the premium?".
I think I paid £9 when buying a house last year. This seemed better than the outside chance of the vicar knocking on the door and demanding a couple of thousand towards the new roof fund.
If you really want to avoid it, change solicitors (although I'd love to know why some would have a different view); but I think doing so would cost you more than paying the premium anyway.0 -
