thanks for helping me get debt free before 40

Hi all, after having my LBM way back in Nov 2006 i've spent the last 2 years+ trying to reduce my credit card debts. they were about £11,300 at their peak - not devastatingly bad i know but bad enough and i'm ashamed to say i have nothing to show for it - exactly what i was buying i'm not sure - although alot of it was stuff for other people - extravagant presents and things that i obviously could not afford (lol!). at my LBM i thought it would take me at least 5 years to get those debts down to anywhere near manageable...

... but with the help of this site and everyone here i've managed to reduce them drastically from 4 cards (all over the place i was then !!) to 3 and then in Nov 08 managed to get them all onto one Virgin card and they are now down to £3,400. :j

I have at last stopped spending on STUFF i don't need/want and finally i can actually see a light at the end of the tunnel, and i can realistically set a DFD. My card is at 0% until March 2010 but I will be 40 in November 2009 and have decided that i want to have them paid off by then and then NO MORE DEBT !!!. I have an Asda credit card which I only use for minimal and essential online shopping (Christmas/Birthdays - and nowhere near as extravagant as before) - but i am proud to say I always have the cash stashed to pay it off the same day as the bill lands on the mat!

the only other debt i have is £100 a month to harveys for my furniture - on interest free credit of course - and the last payment for that is October 09.

Apart from that there's just our mortgage which we are just paying at normal rate for now but may consider overpayments in the near future once all these other "loose ends" are taken care of...

so this post is firstly to say a BIG thanks to everyone on this site for advice, support, tips and links and also to spur me on to finish what i started - and pay it ALL off once and for all!

Cheers:beer: everyone.
