Sewing Patterns

I don't think I've thrown away a sewing pattern for around 30 years lol - I've still got a Woman's Own one for school uniform for when my son started school (1978) and it's amazing how many of them are still useable. Obviously lots of the women's clothes are now outdated, but ......... you never know when styles are going to come back round again!
Over the years I've done lots of sewing for other people and most of them have later said 'keep the pattern' which is great.
My more recent patterns (the last 6 or 8 years) are very adaptable and mix/match in style - so lots of variations from those.0 -
Have a look on www.crafsters.org they have a sewing section with instructions on how to make stuff as well.Its my fav site lol0

I have found some patterns in charity shops and they are fab for all the older styles coming back in. I recently made a cocktail dress from a pattern dated 1990 and it looks awesome and very up to date! Also have patterns for 70's style pencil skirts! i think with most patterns a little adjustment and an up to date fabric just brings them to perfection! (of course I am not going to say the same for all patterns - collotts were never my thing the first time round!):rotfl: :rotfl:Happiness is wanting what you have...0 -

When I went online to check them out I was horrified to find that they now cost around £5.40.:eek: :eek: I haven't even started to find out how much the fabric is.:eek:
I have checked Ebay out but they all seem to be vintage patterns on there. Does anyone know where you can get discounted patterns (modern ones) or is there a "swap shop" for sewing patterns?
If you sign up to www.burdastyle.com you can download lots of very nice patterns for free, some cost but they tell you that as you scroll through the lists. because it's been quite a few years since I did any real sewing I thought I would look online to see if there were any dressmaking classes in my area so I could brush up on my skills and maybe learn a few new ones (only really know the basics of following a pattern and never got the hang of button holes
)
No wonder clothes making is a dying art there is only 1 class I can find in the area, but unfortunately it's too far away for me to get too0
