Well I don't need to take a trip to Australia because I live here! I can get to Sydney by train in about 2 hours from where I live and I grew up in Sydney...it's a bit boring to me...LOL
I have subscribed to this thread so I can follow your journey!
Cheers
canneThe Mortgage Free in Three - Take 2 Challenge (MFiT-T2): #58 - Goal: Get to AU$50 000 by 12/12/12Current balance: $84 6932011 MF Wannabes: #102 - Goal: Overpay mortgage by AU$15 000Total paid for 2011: $2253.160 -
Posted my first update to the MFIT-T2 challenge, I know I'm off target but feel its important to keep the updates and at least some focus.
Have made a little extra cash this month by posting some old mobile off to Fonebank and also we recieved some money back from the holiday insurance (finally) due to my wife being ill on holiday Thailand and needing a hospital trip - so medical expenses repaid. All helps go towards reducing the balance.0 -
Just a quick update. After we thought everything was going well my wife was made redundant yesterday. She's really upset as you can imagine.
Its seriously batten down the hatches time, holiday out of the window and just try to keep up with the mortgage and bills. I'm thankful we have a very good budget system as within about 15 minutes we could tell whether we are in real trouble or not and what needs to change in our lifestyle to be able to keep the house and pay the bills.
The job market isn't looking too hot and looking at all options, including opening her own business to just get started on something if jobs don't come along, even if it doesn't succeed.
I guess this is a familiar story at the moment.0 -
PG - sorry to hear your bad news. That Sucks:( Hope your wife finds a new job soon.0

Quick update - Mrs PhoneGuru got another job! She was out of work for less than 1 week. Granted its a temp contract for 4 months, but still better than nothing :j0

Well, things have changed, decided to look at my posts on this thread and can't believe its been so long. Just getting back on the wagon after a few years of turmoil.
Mrs. PhoneGuru and I had problems for various reasons and split. Since then its been lawyers and an expensive buy out of the house we bought together, even though I paid the mortgage for 5 years she gets half the equity and given the increase in value of property you can imagine I'm not so happy about it but that's the law I guess.
Now I'm just about to finalise the mortgage deal covering the buy out and I'm really pleased to say my new lady should be moving in along with our soon to be born baby girl. Maybe after almost 3 years of being on such a roller coaster things are finally looking up.
Hoping to get on the MFIT-T3 challenge, at least for the back end of it to help reduce the increase in mortgage I've had to take out. Lets see how it goes!0 -
